Kori Holistic Fitness – The Maori word ‘Kori’ means to move, to dance, to play, to be vibrant and have energy, to be ALIVE. I think it sums up perfectly the intention I set for my clients. I want people to be in tune with themselves and the world around them through exercise, nutrition and mindfulness.
My name is Kandace Smiler Smith. I am a Mum of two kids aged 5 and 7 years old. As a family we are the adventure type! We love to explore our environment and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, new experiences, getting out into nature, yummy food and living life to the max! You can see what we get up to by following us on my personal blog on Instagram.
I currently live in the beautiful city of Christchurch New Zealand. It’s easy to be into nature and the environment when you live in such a beautiful place.
I am passionate about sustainability and the environment and want to teach you how what you eat can have a big impact on the environment and how small changes can make a positive difference. My nutrition advice and recommendations are a reflection of this belief because I believe through mindful eating you are taking responsibility for what you put into your body, the ones you love and the world around you.
I studied a Diploma in Sport and Exercise at Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill in 2014. As a part of my Diploma I studied Nutrition among other things and I have a keen interest in Nutrition Science and this is an area I intend on growing my knowledge. While study has helped there is nothing like real world experience and my years in the industry has provided invaluable experience leading me to take a holistic individualised approach to nutrition and motivation psychology.
I also have a Bachelor degree in English and Media studies, not entirely related to my current career choice, however, this has provided me with a mind for critical thinking which is how I approach my interest in Nutrition Science. There is so much BS out there!
I have been working in the health and fitness industry for 4 years. I have supported thousands of clients to reach their goals as support for a fabulous woman centric online fitness and weight loss company called YummyMummyFitness. My role here includes support, meal planning and I used to run the online virtual group fitness and online virtual personal training.
Previous to having children I worked in the hospitality industry with my Chef husband for over 10 years and my favourite pastime is to cook and eat. I’m a total foodie and lover of ALL things yummy. We travelled the world together and our travel destination choices would often be based on exploring famous wine and food regions.
